One of the misconceptions about writing is that every story follows the outline exactly as planned.

In reality, stories have a habit of surprising their authors.

I spent some time with my current manuscript today expecting to solve a lingering question. In the end, I found an answer—but that answer led to several new questions I hadn't anticipated. Oddly enough, I don't consider that a setback. It's often a sign that the story has found a deeper path than the one I originally imagined.

I've learned not to resist those moments.

The best stories don't always unfold in a straight line. They wander, reveal unexpected connections, and occasionally force the writer to rethink everything that came before. It can be frustrating, but it's also one of the most rewarding parts of the creative process.

For now, the notebook remains open, the questions remain unanswered, and the journey continues.

As writers, we often chase certainty. More often than not, it's the uncertainty that leads us to the most interesting places.
